Is Salt Antidepressant?

Salt which defined as sodium chloride (NaCl) by chemists is the most important flavoring and preservative nutrient has been used for years. The most important property of the salt is balancing liquid in human body. Although we consume enough amount of water, when there is salt lack, the water content in our body decrease under normal.

For adults daily intake of the salt should be 6 to 8 grams, in hot weather it can increase to 10 grams. Actually we can provide daily needed amount from natural consumed foods.  According to researches, people consume over 10 grams, mostly 15 grams salt in a day although specialist worn them about its harmful effects like nephrite, hypertension, arteriosclerosis.

Researches tried to find why some people still eat too much salt, even though they know it’s bad for them. According to University of Iowa, salt can be mood booster. That seems why people need to consume salt too much. But there is no result of not eating salt cause depression. We think that due to consuming excessive salt’s harmful effect, people should not use up it over daily intake limit.
