Food And Drug Administration (FDA) warned consumers not to eat pistachio and its products bases Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc. due to possible salmonella contamination.
Two people called FDA due to gastrointestinal illness. Although the link hasn’t been confirmed, the company is recalling more than 2 million pounds of roasted nuts that has been shipping since last fall.

Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc. is the USA’a second pistachio producer in California. They also produce nuts, dried fruit, edible seeds, chocolate and yogurt-coated candies. The recalled batch of the nut is the very small part of company’s annual production.
FDA was informed about the problem by Kraft and the Georgia Nut Co. The had detected salmonella in roasted pistachios through routine product testing and recalled Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix. After that FDA contacted Setton Pistachio and California health officials.
The possible contaminated pistachios originated from California plant which is the second largest pistachio producer in the world. Kroger Co. recalled one of its lines of bagged pistachios that they bought from California plant.
