In the meeting that performed by WHO (World Health Organization) in Canada, specialists determined the tolerable daily intake (TDI) limit of the melamine in contaminated milk and milk products. Determined limit is lower than limits defined by other food authorities.
WHO’s food safety director, Dr. Jorgen Schlundt, said that they had thought this new limit would be better to conserve commune health.
In this topic; TDI is an estimate of the amount of a melamine in milk and milk products that can be taken in daily over a lifetime without appreciable health risk. TDI limit for melamine was defined as 0,2 mg/kg buddy weight. That means the person who has 50 kg buddy weight tolerate 10 mg melamine per a day.
Specialists also determined the TDI limit of cyanuric acid as 1,5 mg/kg buddy weight. But consuming melamine and cyanuric acid together causes more badly effects. Due to lack of the data, they couldn’t determine TDI limit of both of them.
20 specialist joined the meeting to examine toxicological effects of cyanuric acid and melamine.
