Bisphenol-A (BPA) Is Banned In Baby Bottles In Minnesota

Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a chemical that is used in plastic manufacturing combining with other chemicals. It has been used for many days and was permitted with the Commission Directive 2002/72/EC of 6 August 2002.
Little amount of BPA can contaminate to the food products via polycarbonate plastics and epoxide materials. Also BPA migration can occur by damaged plastics.

BPA is one of the chemicals that effect hormonal system. It has been known that it effects estrogen hormone.
Minnesota is the first US state to ban the use of BPA in baby bottles due to possible migration of BPA to baby food by heating.
California, New York and Connecticut also consider to ban the use of BPA bottles. Meanwhile, a Chicago City Council advisory panel has given preliminary approval earlier this week to a proposal to ban the sale of baby bottles containing BPA.
The ban would apply to empty food or drink containers intended for use by children under three years of age.
Some baby bottle manufacturers continue to sell BPA contain bottles in UK but stop in US. The UK Food Standards Agency insists BPA in UK plastic products is “well below the levels considered harmful”. According to some sources a baby, 3 months old and 3 kg weight, must 4 times more BPA than a baby bottle consist to reach TDI value.
