In some countries, a powder material called TOXIMED is used in animal feed legally. The content of the toximed has not determined well yet. According to some sources toximed is high molecular weight polymer.
In contrast to idea of toximed’s anti-mycotoxin effect, it is very harmful to human health directly and indirectly.
The important point is, toximed only bound aflatoxin, it does not convert it to any other healthy material. Toximed’s bounding effect prevents aflatoxin analysing. Although the product include high amount of aflatoxin, it can not be determined by aflatoxin analyse methods.
TOXIMED is a big problem for animal origin products. In some countries, legally, it is allowed to use in animal feed. Animals are fed with high aflatoxin include animal feeds and meat, milk from this animal also contaminated with aflatoxin. So, people consume aflatoxin indirectly.
In some countries, TOXIMED is used in paprika and chili origin spices illegally. Although this products high level of aflatoxin, government can not determine it.
TOXIMED is really terrible problem for human health and solutions must be found to prevent its using very urgently.
