Fruits and vegetables are the rich sources of the antioxidants. Vegetables are main sources of the ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Fruits and vegetables are main sources of the carotenoids. The most important antioxidant carotenoids are beta-carotene (vitamin A) and lycopene. Beta carotene is found in yellow, green and orange fruits and vegetables like carrot, spinach, lettuce, melon, tomato, broccoli, sweet potato, orange and vegetable marrow. Lycopene is found in tomato and other red color fruits.
Another antioxidant source is alpha tocopherol (vitamin E). The sources of the vitamin E are; vegetable oil, vegetables, egg, cereals, margarine, bean, sheep and buffalo meat, butter and chicken.
We should keep in mind that only antioxidants are not enough to live healthy and stay young. We should be away from cigarette, alcohol, stress, bad ideas and unhealthy foods.
